Question 1

Is the service really free?

Accepted Answer

Yes, completely free. We never charge homeowners. Our installers pay us a small referral fee only when a job is completed, so there's no cost to you for using our comparison service.

Question 2

Do you work with conservation areas?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. All our installers are experienced with conservation areas, listed buildings, and tenement properties. They understand Scottish building regulations and can advise on planning requirements.

Question 3

Do you offer finance options?

Accepted Answer

Many of our installers offer 0% APR finance options for larger projects. Finance terms and availability vary by installer - this will be discussed during your quote consultation.

Question 4

When do I pay?

Accepted Answer

Payment terms vary by installer but typically involve: small deposit (10-20%) on order confirmation, progress payment on delivery, final payment on completion. Never pay 100% upfront.

Question 5

How long does installation take?

Accepted Answer

Most homes can be completed in 1-3 days depending on the number of windows. Single window replacements often take just 2-4 hours. Your installer will provide a detailed timeline during the quote.

Question 6

Will I need planning permission?

Accepted Answer

Most window replacements don't require planning permission in Scotland, but conservation areas and listed buildings may have restrictions. Our installers will advise you on requirements for your specific property.

Question 7

What about mess and disruption?

Accepted Answer

Professional installers use dust sheets, remove old windows carefully, and clean up thoroughly afterward. Most rooms are usable the same day. You can usually stay in your home during installation.

Question 8

Should I choose double or triple glazing?

Accepted Answer

Double glazing (U-value 1.4-1.6) is standard and excellent value. Triple glazing (U-value 0.8) offers superior thermal performance but costs 20-30% more. Triple glazing is recommended for new builds, north-facing rooms, or maximum energy efficiency.

Question 9

Do you offer portfolio discounts?

Accepted Answer

Yes, our installers offer volume pricing for landlords with multiple properties. Discounts typically start at 5+ windows and increase with portfolio size. Contact us for tailored landlord pricing.
